Knowledge transfer and environmental education are among the central tasks of every biosphere reserve. The Nockberge Biosphere Reserve attaches great importance to providing information to specific target groups.
Lectures, seminars and workshops bring a wide range of topics closer to the population as part of the adult education programme.
The information centres (exhibitions) along the Nockalm Road have lots of interesting facts for visitors to discover. In addition, guided adventure programmes offer first-hand insights into the special features of the biosphere reserve. The biosphere reserve is particularly committed to raising awareness of sustainability in the region’s schools. Our educational programme for schools provides interactive educational opportunities and illustrates various areas of knowledge about the biosphere reserve.
Austrian Eco-label
The UNESCO Carinthian Nock Mountains Biosphere Reserve is currently working on achieving the Austrian Eco-label for (extracurricular) educational institutions.
The eco-label reflects the biosphere reserve’s guiding principle of being a model region for sustainable development and ensuring high-quality knowledge transfer and environmental education.
