Education is one of the most important tasks of the Nockberge Biosphere Reserve.
In various modules, the children learn more about the plant world, geology, wildlife and people in the biosphere park. The biosphere park rangers pass on their knowledge in a child-orientated way and tailored to the age group. Thus a habitat with foresight can continue to exist.
The biosphere reserve is particularly committed to raising awareness of sustainability in the region’s schools. Numerous schools in and around the biosphere reserve have been officially recognized as biosphere reserve schools and partner schools. A specially developed educational concept encourages children’s natural spirit of research. With a mobile exhibition “Schlaufux on Tour” and a lot of pedagogical flair, highly trained biosphere park rangers come directly into the classes. They offer vivid, hands-on lessons on a wide range of topics related to the biosphere reserve. In addition, specific programs are offered for school excursions, hiking days and project weeks.
