Schools and partnerships

Strong partnerships: A milestone in the development of our unique model region are the 19 biosphere park schools and partner schools in and around the Nockberge Biosphere Park.

The children are taught the connections between man and nature by using specially developed teaching materials that are tailored to the curriculum. The biosphere park rangers visit the classes for two teaching units every school year and prepare the children for the subsequent project day in the Nockberge Biosphere Park. There is also an annual teachers’ forum for educators, where the focus is on exchanging ideas and imparting knowledge.

As sustainable development of the Nockberge Biosphere Park is only possible with the involvement of the population, it is necessary to raise awareness amongst the residents of the four biosphere park communities to the connections between nature and mankind. The foundation for this should already be laid with children and young people.
