Initiatives
The Carinthian Nockberge Biosphere Reserve is more than just a protected area. It networks existing facilities and acts as a hub between interests, groups and living environments. Through cooperation and initiatives with key organisations, the biosphere park management contributes to the sustainable development of the region.
The “UNESCO Biosphere Reserve” label is something special and provides impetus for tourism, business and public relations. The Nockberge Biosphere Reserve actively communicates with the local population and presents the Nockberge region on a national and international level. Intact nature and the human habitat, which benefit and do not harm each other, are ideally the common goal.
Establishing the Nockberge as a varied hiking region emphasises this claim. The Nockberge Biosphere Reserve supports and expands regional tourism through targeted visitor programmes. Interactive exhibitions along the Nockalm Road, adventure programmes with biosphere park rangers and themed trails are just some of the measures contributing to value creation in the region.
