The UNESCO designation “Biosphere Reserve” describes a recognised model and future region in which the focus is on the development of ecologically, economically and sustainably oriented land use and the protection of ecosystems. In order to better understand the interactions between man and nature, the Nockberge Biosphere Reserve pursues a research mission. To this end, regional data is systematically collected and analysed. Broad co-operation with scientific institutions is intended to provide insights into regional challenges, such as climate change, demographic change and nature conservation.
