The Nockberge Biosphere Reserve attaches great importance to involving the local population in its development. The ideas, visions and conceptions of young people and young adults are particularly important. In order to make the Nockberge region attractive as a future living and working space for the 15 to 30 age group, the biosphere park regularly organises youth forums.
EuroMAB
The EuroMAB network comprises all European and North American member states participating in the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere (MAB) programme and the World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR). EuroMAB is the largest and oldest of the nine regional and interregional MAB networks. It consists of 36 countries, including Canada and the USA, and comprises 302 biosphere reserves (BRs).
Thereby, it places great emphasis on the inclusion of young people in the equitable and participatory planning of sustainable development in biosphere reserves.
